ORAL PRESENTESATION OF VENICE

1.Geographical position in Italy and the world.
Italy is situated south east of Europe. In Italy we find a beautiful city called Venice. Venice consists of 120 small islands and has about 450 bridges. Venice has approximately 270,000 inhabitants and is one of the most visited cities by tourists.

2. Clime of Venice:
- Temperatures: Venice has a humid climate, summer temperatures can soar to 35 degrees. However in Winter the temperature ranges between 0-3 degrees .

- Rainfall: In climograms we can see that in spring and fall is when more rain this phenomenon is known as "acqua alta" is sometimes because Venicia is located near the coast.

- Warms month and High season: in April and October because they are the warmest month of the year. You can visit Venice in February because it’s carnival. The carnival of Venice is one of the most important in the world. The best time to go to Venice is winter because you can find better prices and fewer people.

3. Getting around in Venice:
- On foot: Venice is small and you can walk from north to south in 35 minutes. If you can walk, you can see the shops and there are no cars in Venice.

- Vaporetto: The Vaporetto is a water bus and is the typical public transportation from Venice to move within the city or to the other islands of the lagoon. It is often faster travel on foot, but is essential to take the vaporetto if travel to Venice.

- Gondola: The gondolas there are economic or luxury.The gondola ride can last from 30-45 minutes. The gondola economic cost around 50 euros.The luxury gondola with flowers, candles, are more romantic but cost from 70 euros to 100.The gondoliers are friendly and if you're lucky you sing a song.

- Water taxis: It’s a good idea to book a transfer, the water taxi are the limousines of Venice: With their spacious leather-upholstered cabins, open-air seating in the stern, and private captains to chauffeur you up the Grand Canal which means you will picked up and driven to your hotel but this transport is expensive.

4. Most visitors to Venice come to see:

The Grand Canal :Venice's main waterway splits the city in half with sestieri in equal parts to the west and east of it. It is the hub around which much activity in Venice is concentrated and is encircled with elegant facades of the palazzi, which testify to the city's past opulence.

- St Mark’s Square: St Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco) has always been the nucleus of Venice. Many tourists buy popcorn to feed the pigeons.

- Rialto bridge: The Rialto has long been the commercial core of Venice and is famed as the place where the first bridge over the Grand Canal was built. The original wooden bridge collapsed under the strain of the crowds gathered here to admire a wedding procession.

- St Mark’s Basilica: The Basilica of San Marcos is one of the most beautiful cathedrals of Europe and the world. It is the result of different styles, and so retains aspects can leave oriental tourists astonished by its particularity and splendor.

- Santa Maria Basilica: The Basilica of Santa Maria began to build the Franciscans about 1250, but by mid-fifteenth century was demolished and replaced by the great church of brick that can be seen now, and is the largest church in Venice.
- Peggy Guggenheim Collection: The Guggenheim collection is housed in the former Palazzo of the wealthy American heiress and has become one of the most illustrious collections of Modern Art in Italy.
- Bell Tower: you can see all the city.
- Clock Tower: is the first thing you see when you enter in St Mark's Square.


5. The kids attractions are:
If you travel with childrem, you must see

- Aqualand: is a theme park very funny.
- Naval Museum.
- Museum of natural history: children will large dinosaurs and other animals bones.
- Murano Museum.
- Po delta natural park: the children see a lot of birds live with their binoculars.

6. Festivals, culture and art:
- Carnival of Venice: The Carnival of Venice is celebrated in February. Since then the masks are the most important element of the carnival.The Carnival of Venice last of 10 days. During the evening dances are performed in salons and the troupes known as compagnie della Calza parades through the city.



- International film festival and Venice Biennale:The festival is held every 2 years in August. It is a film festival of the most important in the world. In this festival we can see very famous actors and actresses.
The festival's principal awards are the Golden Lion

7. Typical foods and drink in Venice.
Venice is famous for its "patisserie" cakes, ice cream and pastries.Besides Italian food, like fish, the angler and eels are very common dishes. It also appreciates the rice in the area. And among the meats liver with onions.And, as in Italy, the supply of pizzas and pastas, like the "risi e bisi", a dish of rice with peas and ham.The Venetian Ice is certainly one of the best in Italy, gelato shops, or as they say in Italian the gelaterie serve many seasonal flavors and even some unique Veneto area .
